What is Zelle®?

Zelle® is a fast, safe and easy way to send money directly between almost any bank or credit union account in the U.S., typically within minutes*. With just an email address or U.S. mobile phone number, you can send money to people you trust, regardless of where they bank*.

This amazing new service is available to Peoples Bank of Alabama customers via online banking or our mobile app.

Zelle® is a great way to send and receive money between friends, family and others you trust – regardless of where they bank*. On December 28, 2021, we will offer the features below:

  • Send —you can send money directly to your recipient’s bank account, typically within minutes*.
  • Request** — you can send a request for money. The person who receives the request will be able to accept or decline – if they accept, you will typically receive the money in minutes*.
  • Split** — if you need to split the cost of a bill or share a cost with multiple people, you can use split to calculate how much everyone owes and then send a request for money to each person*.

Here are just a few of the benefits you will be able to enjoy:

  • Customers can receive money fast, typically within minutes*. When you receive money with Zelle® and you are already enrolled, the money goes directly into your bank account and is available for use in minutes.
  • Customers can send money to friends, family and others they trust. Your recipient must have a bank account in the U.S.
  • Customers can request money from others**, which makes it easy to collect money for things like group gifts or shared meals.
  • Customers do not need to download another app. Customers can use Zelle® to send money within the Peoples Bank of Alabama online banking or mobile app experience.
  • Customers can avoid sharing sensitive account information with friends and family — all the customer needs to share is their U.S. mobile phone number or email address.

When you send money with Zelle® and the recipient is already enrolled, the money goes directly into the recipient’s bank or credit union account and is available for use typically in minutes*. This is why it’s important that you confirm the correct email address or U.S. mobile number for your recipient and that it’s someone you trust.

* U.S. checking or savings account required to use Zelle®. Transactions between enrolled users typically occur in minutes and generally do not have fees.

** In order to send payment requests or split payment requests to a U.S. mobile number, the mobile number must already be enrolled with Zelle®.
