Key Responsibilities of Credit Analyst I or II:
- Teams with commercial lenders and commercial credit staff to prepare and ensure accuracy of credit approval packages for new loan requests, renewals, and modifications.
- Spread, analyze, and interpret borrower/guarantor financial statements, while utilizing personal financial statements, personal tax returns, accountant prepared financial statements, company prepared financial statements and corporate tax returns.
- Completes an independent, in-depth review of financial statements for businesses and individuals, projections, and business plans; proactively identifies and mitigates key risks.
- Recommends and models appropriate loan structures and collateral based on risk assessment and PBAL Commercial Loan Policy.
- Analyzes individual and global company performance and the impact of industry, competitive, and economic dynamics and events on the creditworthiness of existing customers and prospects.
- Determines the appropriate risk rating for a company; proactively identifies risk rating changes.
- Aids in the timely ongoing periodic credit servicing and internal review of loans within the portfolio, including analyzing historical financial performance, performance vs. projections, covenant compliance, risk rating and any other significant risk drivers.
- Develops a strong working knowledge of and ensures compliance with internal commercial loan policy, credit risk management policy and external regulatory requirements; documents any exceptions to policy and related rationale/mitigants.
- Produces and distributes reports for senior management, as requested.
- Manages assigned loan requests through the underwriting and loan approval process.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Candidate Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Business with a concentration in Accounting, Economics, or Finance.
- Completion of a major corporate credit training program or equivalent corporate banking/corporate finance experience desired
- 2-5 years of commercial credit experience desired
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to demonstrate competence in following and executing defined processes, checklists and adherence to policy and procedures
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrate good work ethic by being self-directed and motivated
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Possess a positive, flexible, and cooperative attitude and willingness to work within a small office environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office product suite (i.e., Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.) and willingness to learn additional bank software programs. Experience with Jack Henry and Sageworks/Abrigo product suites is a strength.

This position is an entry level position which allows the selected candidate to develop in the role of providing analytical underwriting support for the making of credit decisions.
Key Responsibilities of Credit Analyst:

- Shadow commercial credit staff, commercial lenders, and various other departments to understand how a loan is originated, booked, and serviced
- Work with commercial credit staff, commercial lenders, and bank management to gain knowledge of appropriate loan structure and pricing based on risk assessment, PBAL Commercial Loan Policy, and Regulatory Guidelines
- Team with commercial lenders and commercial credit staff to prepare and ensure accuracy of loan packages that have been analyzed and assessed against PBAL Commercial Loan Policy, including credit workbook, credit memorandum, risk rating template, business financial spreads, personal financial statements, and other miscellaneous information
- Establish, maintain, and update borrower credit files as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned by manager
Candidate Qualifications:

- Recent college grad to 1 year of commercial credit experience desired
