Commercial Credit Analyst II - Birmingham

Key Responsibilities of Credit Analyst I or II:

  • Teams with commercial lenders and commercial credit staff to prepare and ensure accuracy of credit approval packages for new loan requests, renewals, and modifications.
  • Spread, analyze, and interpret borrower/guarantor financial statements, while utilizing personal financial statements, personal tax returns, accountant prepared financial statements, company prepared financial statements and corporate tax returns.
  • Completes an independent, in-depth review of financial statements for businesses and individuals, projections, and business plans; proactively identifies and mitigates key risks.
  • Recommends and models appropriate loan structures and collateral based on risk assessment and PBAL Commercial Loan Policy.
  • Analyzes individual and global company performance and the impact of industry, competitive, and economic dynamics and events on the creditworthiness of existing customers and prospects.
  • Determines the appropriate risk rating for a company; proactively identifies risk rating changes.
  • Aids in the timely ongoing periodic credit servicing and internal review of loans within the portfolio, including analyzing historical financial performance, performance vs. projections, covenant compliance, risk rating and any other significant risk drivers.
  • Develops a strong working knowledge of and ensures compliance with internal commercial loan policy, credit risk management policy and external regulatory requirements; documents any exceptions to policy and related rationale/mitigants.
  • Produces and distributes reports for senior management, as requested.
  • Manages assigned loan requests through the underwriting and loan approval process.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Business with a concentration in Accounting, Economics, or Finance.
  • Completion of a major corporate credit training program or equivalent corporate banking/corporate finance experience desired
  • 2-5 years of commercial credit experience desired
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to demonstrate competence in following and executing defined processes, checklists and adherence to policy and procedures
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrate good work ethic by being self-directed and motivated
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Possess a positive, flexible, and cooperative attitude and willingness to work within a small office environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office product suite (i.e., Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.) and willingness to learn additional bank software programs. Experience with Jack Henry and Sageworks/Abrigo product suites is a strength.

Entry Level Commercial Credit Analyst - Birmingham

This position is an entry level position which allows the selected candidate to develop in the role of providing analytical underwriting support for the making of credit decisions.

Key Responsibilities of Credit Analyst:

  • Spread, analyze, and interpret financial statements for borrowers and guarantors utilizing personal financial statements, personal tax returns, accountant prepared financial statements, company prepared financial statements, and corporate tax returns
  • Conduct credit investigations for individuals and businesses, perform economic and industry analysis for borrowers, construct financial projections, and assess overall risk to maximize credit quality
  • Determine appropriate collateral structure for various loan types and conduct collateral analysis to assess collateral quality and value
  • Shadow commercial credit staff, commercial lenders, and various other departments to understand how a loan is originated, booked, and serviced
  • Work with commercial credit staff, commercial lenders, and bank management to gain knowledge of appropriate loan structure and pricing based on risk assessment, PBAL Commercial Loan Policy, and Regulatory Guidelines
  • Team with commercial lenders and commercial credit staff to prepare and ensure accuracy of loan packages that have been analyzed and assessed against PBAL Commercial Loan Policy, including credit workbook, credit memorandum, risk rating template, business financial spreads, personal financial statements, and other miscellaneous information
  • Establish, maintain, and update borrower credit files as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Business with a concentration in Accounting, Economics, or Finance. Internship or part-time work experience in banking or related field a plus
  • Recent college grad to 1 year of commercial credit experience desired

Credit Portfolio Analyst - ProBilling & Funding Service

ProBilling & Funding Service is a leader in commercial accounts receivable billing. Located in Decatur, Alabama and a Division of Peoples Bank of Alabama.

The primary function of this position is as follows:

  • Utilize industry specific software programs to perform various clerical and routine accounting tasks in support of an operating unit. High level of understanding of MS Excel, Word
  • Performs credit investigation on new and existing commercial customer base
  • Analyze Dun & Bradstreet reports, financial reports as part of credit review process
  • Reaches out to financial institution, trade references included on commercial customer credit application, summarizing results to the credit management team. Document results.
  • Approval of incoming sales authorization via internet, phone
  • Analyze daily reports to determine company liability, customer credit limit adjustments, open/closed account status.
  • Knowledgeable of the values and practices that align client/customer needs and satisfaction as primary considerations in all business decisions and able to leverage that information in creating a customized client/customer solution.
  • Accessing and effectively managing all the risks associated with our business objectives and activities.
  • Provides feedback to management on workflow and work received throughout business day.
  • Maintain high levels of customer satisfactions consistent with ProBilling core values. Demonstrates commitment to quality.
  • Ability to manage work load in a fast-paced environment while being detail oriented.

Qualifications:

BS Degree in Business related field or two years’ experience in portfolio analysis
