How To Apply

Before you can start depositing checks with your mobile device, you will need to review the Terms and Conditions and apply for the service. To get started with Photo Deposit simply log in to Online Banking and select Photo Deposit Enrollment under the Services tab.

What you will need:

  • A mobile device with the latest Peoples Bank of Alabama Mobile app.
  • An eligible Peoples Bank of Alabama deposit account that has been open for at least 30 days.

How to Apply:

  1. Sign in to your Online Banking Account.
  2. Select Photo Deposit Enrollment under the Services tab
  3. Review the Terms and Conditions
  4. Check the box that indicates you accept the Terms and Conditions and click "Accept"

After you have applied for the service, you will be contacted through Online Banking Secure messaging within three business days, be sure to check your messages in box.

After you have been approved for the service, make sure you have the latest Mobile app from Peoples Bank of Alabama and follow the steps listed under the "How to Deposit" below.

How To Deposit

Before you deposit:

  • You must be approved for the Peoples Bank of Alabama Photo Deposit service.
  • Make sure you have downloaded the Peoples Bank of Alabama app; or if you already have the app, make sure you have the latest update.
  • Endorse your check by simply signing your name as usual on the back. Below the endorsement, the verbiage "Mobile Deposit Only" MUST be included.

How to make a deposit:

  1. On your mobile device, log in to the Peoples Bank of Alabama mobile app
  2. From the main menu, select Transactions and then Photo Deposit
  3. Select the account you wish to make your deposit into
  4. Enter the amount of the check
  5. Select Save
  6. Select Capture Image
  7. Capture an image of the front and back of the check
  8. Review the images and select Submit Deposit
  9. If successful, you will receive the Deposit Submitted confirmation page

After you make your deposit:

  1. Review your deposit information on the Photo Deposit home page under the Accepted tab
  2. If your check cannot be posted for some reason, Peoples Bank of Alabama may require you to redeposit the check. Do so only if requested.
  3. Once you have received confirmation of your deposit, write Mobile deposit on DATE across the front of the check.
  4. Keep your check for 14 days after it has posted to your account.
  5. Securely destroy the check on the 15th day after it has posted to your account.

Photo Deposit Guidelines

System and application requirements

Peoples Bank of Alabama Photo Deposit ("Photo Deposit") is supported on mobile devices with the following operating systems:

  • iPhone iOS version 14.X or higher
  • Android version 9.X or higher

The Peoples Bank of Alabama Mobile app may be downloaded to your mobile device. Visit the app store for your mobile device and search for Peoples Bank of Alabama. If you already have our app, update it with the most recent version.

Connectivity via 5G/4G LTE or Wi-Fi and a device camera with a resolution of 5 megapixels are higher is recommended.

Safeguarding your personal information

We urge you to be cautious when using Photo Deposit to make your deposits. Following these guidelines is important to ensure the safety and integrity of your deposited items and to protect your bank account.

  • Always remember to treat your mobile device with the same care as you do your personal computer.
  • Avoid storing sensitive information like passwords and social security numbers on your mobile device.
  • Password protect your mobile device and lock it when you're not using it.
  • Be aware of your surroundings. Don't type any sensitive information if others around you can see.
  • Protect your phone from viruses and malware just like you do for your computer by installing mobile security software.
  • Download the updates for your phone and mobile apps.
  • Use discretion when downloading apps.
  • If you change your phone number or lose your mobile device, let us know right away by contacting Peoples Bank of Alabama customer service at 1-877-788-0288.
  • Monitor your accounts regularly and report suspicious activity to your financial institution immediately.
  • Always sign off completely when you finish using PeoplesBankAl.com or a Peoples Bank of Alabama app rather than just closing your browser.

To use Photo Deposit you'll be required to log in to Mobile Banking using your User ID and password. Requiring this information helps safeguard your account. To update your User ID and password, sign on to your Online Banking account and go to Security.

Subject to availability

Enrollment in Photo Deposit is subject to availability. Once enrolled, you can deposit checks using our Photo Deposit service anytime, anywhere.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be a customer of the Bank for at least 30 days.
  • Must maintain an account in "Good Standing", an account is considered in "Good Standing" when the following criteria are met:
    • You make sufficient deposits to bring your account to a positive end-of-day balance at least once every 45 calendar days (including the payment of all bank fees and charges).
    • You are not in default on any loan or other obligation to us.
    • There are no legal orders, levies, or liens against your account with us.
    • There is no evidence or appearance of fraudulent activity on your account(s).
  • Enroll in Peoples Bank of Alabama Online Banking and have our mobile App installed on your device.
  • Comply with such restrictions of the service as we may communicate to you from time to time.

Photo Deposit Controls

Users of Photo Deposit are responsible for maintaining control over the proper use of the service, as well as the original paper items used to make deposits through the Photo Deposit service.

Check Safekeeping, Retention and Destruction

How you securely maintain the original paper items, how long you keep them, and how you destroy them are critical to the Photo Deposit service.

Check Safekeeping Guidelines

Photo Deposit users are required to retain the original paper items in a secure place. We also recommend you write on the front of the check: "Mobile deposit on DATE" (where DATE is the full date you deposited the check by Photo Deposit).

Check Retention Guidelines

Photo Deposit users are required to retain the original paper items, for a minimum of five (5) calendar days, but no longer than fourteen (14) calendar days, after they have been transmitted to the Bank ("Retention Period"). This provides sufficient time for research in case there is an issue with the image quality or if the original item is required for any other reason. During this time, the paper items should be stored in a secure place (refer to the Check Safekeeping Guidelines, above). After the retention period, the original paper items should be destroyed to ensure they are not accidentally deposited again (refer to the Check Destruction Guidelines, below).

Check Destruction Guidelines

Photo Deposit users are required to securely and irretrievably destroy the original paper items, after the retention period (refer to the Check Retention Guidelines, above). A cross-cut or diamond shredder will assist in complete destruction of check information. Do not leave deposited items lying around, do not put deposited items in trash or recycle containers, unless they have been shredded first.

What steps have been taken for security?

In addition to User ID and password, we use multiple security layers, including advanced encryption. For your added security, passwords and actual check deposit records or images are not stored on your mobile device.

Protect your password

  • Don't keep your password in a location accessible to others.
  • Don't allow others to perform transactions for you.
  • Periodically change your password by logging in to Online Banking and selecting "Security".
  • Notify us if password security has been breached.

Review your statements promptly and report any problems

Store your original checks in a safe place after depositing

  • Mark each check "Mobile deposit on DATE."
  • Securely destroy each original check 14 days after it posts to your account.

Applying for service

Who is eligible for the service?

The Photo Deposit service is offered to our consumer and business clients at no charge but is subject to certain eligibility requirements, and enrollment is not guaranteed.

  • Once you are approved for enrollment in the service, you may still be restricted to certain deposit limits.

Do I need to be a Peoples Bank of Alabama Mobile Banking customer to use Photo Deposit?

Yes, and downloading the app is convenient and simple. Simply visit the app store for your mobile device and search for Peoples Bank of Alabama. If you already have our app, update it with the most recent version.

Do I need to apply for the Peoples Bank of Alabama Photo Deposit service?

Yes. You must apply and be approved for enrollment prior to using the Photo Deposit service.

How long will it take for my application to be processed?

After you have applied for the service, you will be contacted through Online Banking Secure messaging within three business days, be sure to check your messages in box.

When can I start using the Photo Deposit service?

You will be notified by one of our Customer Service Representatives that your application has been approved. Once you receive this notification you may log in to Mobile Banking and start using the service.

Depositing checks

Are all types of checks eligible for this service?

Checks must be issued by a U.S. bank in U.S. dollars. You may use the Photo Deposit service to deposit original paper checks that are made payable to the name of the account holder.

How long does it take to submit a check deposit?

The transmission time required to upload check images will vary depending on what the signal strength of your cellular network is, whether you are using Wi-Fi, and other factors.

Is there a limit to the amount of money I may deposit using this service?

Yes. There is a limit on the total amount deposited each month. Consumer customers may deposit up to $5000.00 per month and Business customers may deposit up to $50,000.00 per month.

How will I know if my check has been received and posted?

You will receive a confirmation number at the end of each check deposit that confirms receipt of your check images and deposit information. You will also receive a confirmation email from Peoples Bank of Alabama once your deposit has been accepted. You may review your deposit history on the Photo Deposit section.

What do I do with my check after it has been posted to my account?

On the top half of the face of the check, conspicuously mark in ink "Mobile deposit on DATE" immediately after you receive confirmation that the check has posted to your account.

  • If your deposit cannot be posted for some reason, we may ask you to redeposit the check. Do so only if requested.
  • Securely retain your checks for 14 calendar days after the checks are posted to your account.
  • Securely destroy your checks on the 15th day after the checks are posted to your account.

When will my funds be posted to my account?

Deposits submitted on normal business days before 7:00 p.m. CST will be posted to your account the same day. Deposits made after 7:00 p.m. CST or on weekends or holidays will be posted the next business day.
