Save Without Thinking About It

Every debit card purchase you make automatically works toward your savings — no apps, no budgets, no effort.

Saving money doesn’t have to be complicated. With Peoples Bank of Alabama’s SaveUp program, every debit card purchase is rounded up to the next whole dollar. Your change is totaled and automatically transferred from your checking account to your designated savings or checking account at the end of each day.

You shop. You save. It’s that simple.

Three Steps to Effortless Savings.

Step 1 — Swipe

Use your Peoples Bank debit card like you always do — groceries, gas, dining, shopping.

Step 2 — Round Up

Each transaction is automatically rounded up to the next whole dollar. A $4.75 coffee becomes $5.00 — and that $0.25 goes to work for you.

Step 3 — Save

Your change is totaled and credited to your selected savings or checking account at the end of each day. Day after day, it quietly builds.

Built Around Your Life. Not the Other Way Around.

Effortless — No manual transfers, no reminders, no willpower required.

Automatic — Transactions are rounded up once they post to your account. Set it and forget it.

Safe — The daily transfer won’t occur if the amount exceeds your available balance, and SaveUp transfers will never incur overdraft fees.

Flexible — Designate any of your active savings or checking account to receive your SaveUp transfers.

Transparent — Transactions appear on your statement as “POS SAVEUP SAVINGS CREDIT/DEBIT” so you always know where your money is going.

A Few Things to Know.

Here’s what SaveUp doesn’t round up:

  • ATM transactions will not be rounded up.
  • Whole dollar transactions will not be rounded up — for instance, a $20.00 purchase will not be rounded up to $21.00.
  • If your checking account has an insufficient available balance, the daily transfer will not occur and should be considered cancelled — it will not be debited at a later time.

Getting Started Is Easy.

You must have and maintain at least one active checking account with at least one active debit card, and designate an active savings or checking account that you own to receive the SaveUp transfer.

Please note: IRA, CD (certificate of deposit), or Christmas Club accounts may not be designated for the SaveUp Program.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is SaveUp?

SaveUp is Peoples Bank of Alabama’s automatic savings program. Every debit card purchase is rounded up to the nearest whole dollar, and the difference is transferred to your designated savings or checking account daily.

How does the round-up work?

Each posted debit card transaction is rounded up to the next whole dollar. For example, a $4.75 purchase becomes $5.00 — the $0.25 difference is set aside for you.

How often are transfers made?

Rounded-up amounts are totaled and transferred as a single daily transaction at the end of each business day. Multiple transfers may process the business day following a weekend or holiday.

Who can enroll in SaveUp?

Any Peoples Bank of Alabama customer who holds at least one active checking account with an active debit card, and designates an active savings or checking account they own to receive transfers.

Which accounts can receive SaveUp transfers?

Any active savings or checking account that you own — excluding IRA (individual retirement account), CD (certificate of deposit), and Christmas Club accounts.

How do I enroll?

Visit any Peoples Bank of Alabama Branch or call Customer Support at 877.788.0288.

I have multiple debit cards linked to my checking account. Will all of them trigger round-ups? What happens if I receive a new debit card or my card number changes?

Your new card will need to be re-enrolled in the SaveUp program. Round-ups will not automatically transfer to a replacement card — please visit a branch or call 877.788.0288 to re-enroll.

Will SaveUp cause an overdraft?

No. If your available checking balance is insufficient to cover the daily transfer, the transfer is simply cancelled and will not be attempted again later.

What transactions are NOT rounded up?

ATM withdrawals and whole-dollar transactions (e.g., an exact $20.00 purchase) are excluded from round-ups.

Can I cancel SaveUp?

You may terminate your SaveUp enrollment at any time by visiting any branch or calling Customer Support at 877.788.0288.

Can I change my designated savings account?
