When family or friends need money quickly, you can turn to our person-to-person (P2P) payment platform, PeoplesPay. P2P Payments are a digital cash alternative that makes sending and receiving money as easy as emailing and texting. Whether it's paying the babysitter, splitting the check or sending a birthday gift, P2P Payments are a secure method to send money to another person through Online or Mobile Banking. 

All you need to get started is a Peoples Bank of Alabama Discover® Debit Card, your recipient's name and email address or mobile phone number.

How it Works

  • You initiate a payment from any device.
  • The recipient will then receive an email or text message with instructions to accept the payment.
  • They can then enter their debit card number. If their financial institution does not participate in this service using their debit card, they are notified and then they can accept the payment by entering their checking account information.
  • If the recipient accepts the payment using their debit card, the funds are debited from your account immediately. If they use their checking account, the funds transfer will take 1 – 2 business days.

Begin using PeoplesPay

  • Log into Online or Mobile Banking and click on Transactions > PeoplesPay
  • Read the Terms and Conditions
  • Click the Agree button
  • Enter your Debit Card information
  • Enter recipient's information
  • Click "Continue" and follow the on screen prompts
  • Enter your Debit Card PIN
  • Click "Submit PIN" 

Users must be individually enrolled in electronic banking and signed in to originate a PeoplesPay payment.

How do I sign up for P2P (Person-to-Person) Payment?
Signing up for PeoplesPay is easy:

Users must first be individually enrolled in electronic banking, then simply log into Online or Mobile Banking and click on Transactions > PeoplesPay 

Read the Terms and Conditions (must scroll to bottom)

Click the Agree button

After agreeing to the Terms and Conditions, users must add their debit card to PeoplesPay. Please note that only debit cards belonging to the individual logged into electronic banking are authorized to send payments with PeoplesPay.

How do I send money with PeoplesPay?
You can conveniently send money with PeoplesPay from your desktop PC, tablet or mobile phone. Simply access online or mobile banking and click Transactions > PeoplesPay, then follow the onscreen instructions.

Why do I have to enter my PIN to send a PeoplesPay payment?
Entering your PIN before submitting a PeoplePay payment is an added security feature to protect you and your account. 
I've logged into electronic banking, but PeoplesPay won't let me add my debit card.
As another added security feature, users must be logged in to their own electronic banking profile to add a debit card. For example, a husband and wife are joint owners on a checking account and each have their own debit card and they share the wife's electronic banking profile (both use the same ID & PW). If the husband attempts to link his debit card to PeoplesPay from the wife's electronic banking profile, it will not work. The husband will need to setup his own electronic banking profile (unique ID & PW) to link his debit card to PeoplesPay.
When I send money with PeoplesPay, how does the recipient retrieve their money?
When you send money with PeoplesPay, the recipient will receive a text or an email notification that they have money to collect. They can then enter their debit card or checking account information, and the funds will be transferred electronically (via ACH) into their account.
How does PeoplesPay work?
With PeoplesPay, you can send money directly with your debit card to anyone with a debit card and/or checking account of their own. This is a great way to transfer money to someone who is not a customer of Peoples Bank.
What should a PeoplesPay recipient do if they see a message that their card is ineligible?
If a recipient received a message that their card is ineligible they can retrieve their money by using their routing and account number.
